Erasmus+ Project

REmote Learning & examination based on AR

Creating an innovative remote learning and examination ecosystem for maritime vocational education using cutting-edge Augmented Reality technology.

RELAR Project

A Brief Overview

RELAR project aims to create a crisis-proof resilient maritime VET ecosystem by enabling remote learning and examination using Augmented Reality (AR). It addresses key challenges of the maritime and port education ecosystem caused by structural change due to new digital technologies, focusing on the adoption of augmented reality tools to improve learning outcomes.

RELAR is driven by a consortium formed by European VET and HEI organizations and tackles deficiencies revealed by the COVID-19 crisis. The project transfers expertise and knowledge from industrial organizations that have improved security, safety, and efficiency by empowering frontline connected workers with remote technology. The maritime VET education ecosystem must become more resilient to crises and improve adaptation capacity to shifts imposed by force majeure. Being tightly linked to other ecosystems with major roles in economy and society (port ecosystem, national, European and international education systems), maritime education must be capable of absorbing social shocks generated by crisis situations while ensuring learning continuity.
